Coaching and training for managers
Say the hard thing,
kindly.
Tactful helps managers hold the conversations they keep postponing: the performance talk, the attitude talk, the feedback nobody wants to give. Practical words, rehearsal, and follow-through.
What we help with
The conversations that get postponed
Performance that has slipped
Missed deadlines, thin work, standards drifting. You have hinted twice. We help you say it once, clearly, with evidence and a route back.
Attitude and friction
Sharp replies in meetings, sighing at requests, quiet undermining. Hard to name, easy to feel. We turn it into observable behaviour you can discuss without a character judgement.
Feedback that lands
For the manager who wants to be direct without being brutal, and honest without being vague. Language you can use the same afternoon.
Etiquette and professionalism
Meetings that run on time, messages that get answered, phones down, customers respected. Shared standards instead of sighing behind closed doors.
How it works
Four steps, one conversation at a time
Tell us the situation
What happened, who is involved, what you have already tried. A short written brief is enough to start.
Get a plan
We separate facts from interpretations, rank the issues, and decide what this conversation is actually for.
Rehearse the words
You say the opening out loud, we play the other person, and we find the sentence that survives the pushback.
Follow through
A short written summary, a review date, and a check-in so the conversation does not evaporate on Friday.
Programmes
Three ways to work with us
One conversation
A 90-minute working session on a single situation: preparation, a script in your own words, and the follow-up message. Best when something needs to happen this week.
Manager programme
Six sessions over three months for one manager or a small group. Difficult conversations, feedback, delegation, and the standards a team can actually keep.
Team workshop
A half day with your whole team on the etiquette and communication standards you are willing to name. Ends with a one-page charter everyone helped write.
Fees are quoted per situation once we know the scope. Tell us what is going on and we will be straight with you about what it takes.
The journal
Evergreen guides, free to use
How to have a difficult conversation with an employee
The six-part structure, the exact sentences that open a hard talk, and what to do when it goes sideways.
How to give constructive feedback as a manager
A repeatable model, scripts for the four hard cases, and why feedback fails when it waits for the review.
Workplace etiquette training that actually changes behaviour
The seven areas worth training, a 60-minute agenda you can run yourself, and how to keep it alive after the room empties.
Questions
Before you write
Is this coaching or therapy?
Coaching. We work on a specific workplace situation and the words you will use. We do not treat anything clinical, and if a situation needs proper support we will say so.
Do we have to name the people involved?
A first name or a role is useful, nothing more. We do not need personnel files, and we do not keep records beyond what the work needs.
Can this be done remotely?
Yes. Most sessions run by video. Team workshops can be remote or in person.
What if the situation escalates?
We help you prepare the conversation, not replace your process. Where a formal process is needed, we will tell you to involve your HR or legal advice before you speak to anyone.
How soon can we start?
Usually within a week of your first message. If something is due before that, say so in the message and we will try to fit it in.
Start a conversation
Tell us what is going on
Describe the situation in a few lines: who, what happened, and what you would like to be different. No names needed. We reply within two working days with a straight answer about whether we can help.
If someone on your team is struggling and you have waited weeks to raise it, that is the situation to write about.
